Sample Collection and Transport Requirements

  1. Customer visits How to Order section of PiRLlab.com to register and set up an account. Once Customer Account Initiation Form has been received and processed, customer will receive a PiRL start-up kit to begin testing.

  2. Customer fills out 1 PiRL Test Requisition Form per patient (available for download from above link or from PiRL start-up kit).

    After filling out pdf form, please make the appropriate number of copies (traditionally 2 copies: 1 for the office and 1 for the patient).

    Helpful tip: After account information (including account number) has been entered into pdf, save version to desktop for future use.

  3. Customer draws blood or has patient go to hospital/draw station to obtain serum sample. Testing requires a FULL 7 mL separator tube.

  4. Specimens should be shipped at room temperature OVERNIGHT using the PiRL sample tube holder, bio-pack, FedEx label, and box provided in the start-up kit (cold pack is not needed). Please send samples WITH appropriate requisition forms provided in the start-up kit.

  5. PiRL receives the sample and matches up the sample with the requisition form.

  6. PiRL charges account or patient for testing.

  7. PiRL runs sample and provides results via fax or mail.
